Founded and operated by Geoff Cole for almost a decade, the business became a trusted name on the Surf Coast for tyres, servicing, wheel alignments, mechanical repairs, and reliable automotive advice. The workshop developed a loyal customer base built on consistency, integrity, and experienced staff. 2023 – A New Chapter Begins
In 2023, automotive industry veteran Chris Andrews took ownership of Torquay Tyre & Mechanical. With more than 20 years of experience in the tyre and automotive industry, Chris recognised the strength of the business and its reputation within the community. His vision was simple: maintain everything customers already trusted while investing in growth, technology, and future opportunities. The commitment was “same people, same service, same reputation.”
2023–2024 – Investing in Growth
Following the ownership transition, the business expanded its capabilities, invested in new workshop equipment, improved customer facilities, and continued growing its team. The company strengthened its position as a locally owned, family-run business while supporting local sporting clubs, community organisations, and Surf Coast families. Customer service, value for money, and quality workmanship remained at the centre of everything the team delivered.
The Team Behind the Reputation
One of the greatest strengths of Torquay Tyre, Mechanical & 4x4 is the experience and loyalty of its staff. Workshop leader Tony Boros has been a cornerstone of the business for more than 25 years, bringing extensive mechanical knowledge, fabrication expertise, and advanced 4WD build experience. Stephen Borch continues to be recognised for his dedication to customers and exceptional workmanship. Josh Stewart leads tyre fitting and wheel alignments with precision and care, while Spencer Worland contributes both automotive and diesel mechanical expertise, helping expand the workshop’s technical capabilities.
2024 – Strengthening Community Connections
As the business continued to grow, Torquay Tyre & Mechanical reinforced its commitment to the Surf Coast community. Supporting local sporting clubs, community groups, and local events became a key part of the company’s identity. The workshop remained focused on delivering affordable pricing, honest advice, and personalised service during a period of increasing cost-of-living pressures.
2025 – Becoming Torquay Tyre, Mechanical & 4×4
Building on its strong foundations, the business evolved into Torquay Tyre, Mechanical & 4×4, creating a true one-stop automotive destination for the Surf Coast. Alongside tyres, servicing, and major mechanical repairs, the workshop expanded into specialist 4WD and touring vehicle upgrades. Services now include suspension lift kits, Tough Dog GVM upgrades, bull bars, snorkels, lighting systems, dual battery systems, solar setups, towing solutions, and complete touring builds.
