Tyres have been at the heart of our business from day one.

For nearly 20 years, Torquay Tyre & Mechanical has been helping locals find the right tyres and wheels for their vehicles — and while our workshop and services have grown considerably over the years, tyres remain a huge part and the core of who we are.

From the family car and daily driver through to work utes, performance vehicles, caravans and fully loaded 4X4 tourers, we believe the right tyre and wheel combination can completely transform the way a vehicle looks, drives and performs.

But getting it right takes more than picking something from a catalogue.

THE RIGHT TYRE FOR YOUR VEHICLE

Not every tyre suits every driver.

Some customers need something quiet, comfortable and dependable for everyday driving. Others need extra load-carrying ability for towing, durability for work, or serious traction when they’re heading off-road.

That’s why we start by understanding your vehicle, how you use it and where you want it to take you.

We can then recommend a tyre that genuinely suits what you need and will give you the best overall cost per kilometre. NOT JUST A CHEAP INVOICE PRICE.

Comparison chart between cheap and good tires. It lists factors like wet braking, wet-road grip, dry handling, ride comfort, noise, tire life, purchase price, and overall value. The good tires are from Kumho, show proven performance, better grip, confident handling, quiet ride, high-quality materials, and better value. The chart notes that poor tires may vary in performance, have less grip, and wear unpredictably, with lower prices. It emphasizes that quality without the premium price tag offers better overall value. There is an extra note about a 2026 independent brake test, stating Kumho ECSTA SPORT PS72 ranked 4th overall with 27.1 meters wet braking distance, and an image of two cars braking on wet roads. The Kumho logo and slogan are at the bottom.

WHEELS THAT LOOK RIGHT — AND FIT RIGHT

A new set of wheels can completely change the appearance of your vehicle, but there’s much more to a good wheel setup than looks alone.

Wheel size, offset, tyre profile, load rating, suspension setup and vehicle clearance all need to work together.

This becomes even more important with modified 4X4s, towing vehicles and vehicles carrying additional weight.

With our tyre, mechanical, suspension and 4X4 knowledge all under one roof, we can look at the complete vehicle and help put together a tyre and wheel package that not only looks the part, but performs the way it should.

LOCAL EXPERIENCE YOU CAN TRUST

A quality set of tyres deserves to be set up properly.

Our workshop combines professional tyre fitting and balancing with wheel alignment, steering and suspension expertise, allowing us to do much more than simply fit four tyres and send you on your way.

If we notice unusual tyre wear, alignment issues or something in the steering or suspension that isn’t quite right, we have the equipment and mechanical experience to investigate it.

Because getting the most from your tyres isn’t just about what you buy.

It’s about how they’re fitted, how the vehicle is set up and how everything works together.

We’ve spent nearly two decades looking after vehicles in Torquay and across the Surf Coast, and we’ve built our reputation on straightforward advice, quality workmanship and looking after our customers.

Whether you need a single replacement tyre, a fresh set for the family car, new wheels for the ute or a complete tyre and wheel package for your 4X4, we’re here to help you get it right.

Tyres might be where our story started — but our experience today goes well beyond the tyre shop.
